Day 1: Johannesburg to Khama Rhino Sanctuary, BotswanaYour Botswana safari tour departs from Johannesburg at 06:30am and travels north into Botswana and the Khama Rhino Sanctuary.
The Khama Sanctuary Trust is a community based project assisting in saving the endangered Rhino and restoring the area to what it once was, an area teeming with wildlife and natural flora. This project also provides economic benefits to the local Botswana community through tourism and sustainable use of natural resources.
This reserve is located on the Kalahari sandveld, where several natural waterholes provide excellent opportunities for viewing White Rhino, Zebra and Wildebeest. Lunch and dinner is included. |
Day 2: Maun, BotswanaToday your Botswana safari tour drives through central Kalahari to Maun, a bustling city in Botswana, and the gateway to the Okavango Delta. After preparing for your Delta excursion, you spend the rest of the day relaxing by the pool. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is included. |
Days 3 - 5: Okavango Delta, BotswanaThe Okavango Delta is the largest inland delta in the world and definitely an unforgettable experience. The Delta is home a large number of rare animals including Red Lechwe, Sitatunga, Elephant, Wild Dog, Buffalo and Wattled Crane.
The local guide takes you on a journey deep into the heart of the Delta on mokoros (dug out canoe). You spend your nights on remote islands enjoying game walks and swimming in the sparkling water. You return to Maun late in the afternoon on day 5 for a restaurant meal. Breakfast and lunch is included on all 3 days, and dinner is included on 2 days. |
Days 6 - 8: Moremi Game Reserve, BotswanaAfter a relaxing evening you take an open 4WD Land Rover into the Moremi Game Reserve for some amazing game viewing. Chief's Island, which was once the Batswana tribe's hunting grounds, is now a wonderful game reserve.
You spend 3 exciting days on game drives in search for Elephant, Hippo, Buffalo, Lion and other game in Moremi Game Reserve and in the private concession surrounding the Park. You return to Maun on day 8 for an evening at the lodge. Breakfast and lunch is included on 3 days, with dinner included on 2 days. |
Day 9: Makgadikgadi Pans, BotswanaToday you will spend time on an optional game flight over the Okavango Delta before heading towards Nata to watch the sun setting over the Makgadikgadi Pans. After the rains fall the Pans transforms from glaring and white to rich and green, bringing with it thousands of Wildebeest, Zebra and pink hued Flamingo. Rainfall is low in this area, so this spectacle lasts for only a short while. Breakfast and lunch is included. |
Days 10 & 11: Chobe National Park, BotswanaThe spectacular Chobe River is the highlight of your stay in the Chobe National Park. This great river flows lazily along the northern boundary of the Chobe National Park and attracts some of the largest herds of Elephant in Africa.
You enjoy an early morning 4WD game drive in the Chobe National Park followed by an afternoon game viewing 'sundowner' cruise to see Elephant herds at the Chobe River quenching their thirst. Breakfast and lunch is included. |
Days 12 & 13: Victoria Falls/Livingstone, ZambiaYou stay at the Zambezi Waterfront Lodge and visit the 'Mosi oa Tunya or the Victoria Falls. The Victoria Falls is one of the seven wonders of the world and the site for many thrilling activities. Here you will be able to partake in exhilarating bungi jumping from the Victoria Falls, white water rafting down the tempestuous Zambezi River, or take the memorable 'flight of Angels' (own expense). Breakfast is included. |
Day 14: Livingstone, ZambiaAfter enjoying a tasty breakfast, your tour ends. Breakfast is included.
Please Note: You will have the option of starting your Botswana safari tour in Maun. This fly in safari allows you the option to join the scheduled tour on day 2 before the Okavango Delta or on day 5 before the Moremi Game Reserve. Flights not included.

Transport:On foot: There are easy to moderate walks throughout this safari in Botswana - in Victoria Falls, the Okavango Delta and Makgadikgadi Pans. The duration of the walks could be between a half an hour and 4 hours.
Mokoro: You will make use of mokoros in the Okavango Delta which are poled by local guides.
Open game drives: 4WD vehicles are used during game viewing activities in Moremi and Chobe. These vehicles have canvas roofs and sides and can be rolled up whenever possible to allow the best game viewing opportunities. The transfer from the Delta is also with an open 4WD vehicle.
Vehicle: For long distance traveling, a custom built safari truck is used. These trucks are comfortable and good for game viewing and offer 12 forward facing seats. A Toyota Hiace with 10 forward facing seats is also used. |
Difficulty:This safari in Botswana is suitable for anyone generally active and in good health. Accommodation is simple but clean. There are a couple of long days driving and road conditions in some areas are quiet poor, with progress being slow and dusty. This is a participation safari so everyone is asked to help out around camp, ensuring an easy and clean experience in Botswana. |
