Day 1: Gweta - Nxai National Park - Nxai Pan, BotswanaYou will depart Maun early towards Gweta to begin your African overland safari tour. Lunch en route. Close to Phuduhudu you will turn north and enter Nxai Pan National Park. Late afternoon you will arrive at your campsite. You will be shown to your tents and have time for a shower before you enjoy sundowners around the campfire. You will overnight at Nxai Pan. |
Day 2: Nxai Pan, BotswanaAn early morning game drive is planned for your African overland safari tour. You will return to camp at about 11:00am for a delicious brunch. This reserve is home to Springbok, Gemsbok and Zebra. This is the only place in Botswana where Impala and Springbok can be spotted together. Leisure time during the day. You will overnight at Nxai Pan. |
Day 3: Kudiakam Pan - Makgadikgadi Game Reserve, BotswanaAfter a hearty breakfast you will break down camp. Your route for your African overland safari tour takes you on an interesting day’s drive. You will stop en route at Kudiakam Pan, famous for its cluster of ancient Baobabs known as Baines Baobabs.
Arrive late afternoon at your campsite in Makgadigadi Game Reserve. During the rainy season and when there is water in the pans, bird life is abundant here. Enjoy a campfire dinner. You will overnight in Makgadigadi. |
Day 4: Maun - Sitatunga, BotswanaYou will spend the morning of your African overland safari tour in search of game and slowly make your way back to Maun in time for lunch. In the afternoon an optional game flight offers you an aerial view of the Okavango Delta. Dinner will be enjoyed at the Maun Lodge Restaurant. Overnight at Maun Lodge, Maun. |
Day 5: Moremi Wildlife Reserve, BotswanaYou will make an early start for your African overland safari tour. Drive through traditional villages before entering the South Gate into Moremi Wildlife Reserve. You should see game en route to this reserve.
Your game drive takes you on a scenic road through Moremi to Xakanaxa Lagoons. You will be shown to tents where you will have time to shower before dinner is served in the dining tent. You will overnight at a camp near Xakanaxa in an exclusive wilderness area. |
Day 6: Moremi - Xaxanaka Lagoon, BotswanaEnjoy an early morning coffee or tea, before you set off on a full morning’s game drive to return to camp at about 11:00am for a delicious brunch. Time now to shower, rest and relax in camp before the next activity on your African overland safari tour.
After tea you will set off on an afternoon game drive through Moremi with its wilderness of rivers and lagoons. Return to camp and relax around the campfire. Dinner served in a dining tent. You will overnight in a camp near Xakanaxa in an exclusive wilderness area. |
Day 7: Khwai River, BotswanaHaving had breakfast you leave Xakanaxa and continue on an interesting riverine route through Moremi to arrive and set up camp within sight of Khwai River at Moremi’s North Gate. Overnight at a camp near Khwai River in an exclusive wilderness area. |
Day 8: Khwai RiverEarly morning and afternoon game drives exploring the Khwai River area should reveal a variety of game. Leisure time to relax at camp during the day is planned for your African overland safari tour. You will overnight in a camp near Khwai River in an exclusive wilderness area. |
Day 9: Khwai River - Mababe Depression - Savuti, BotswanaAn early morning game drive to have one last look at the Khwai, before returning to your camp for breakfast. You will leave Moremi where your route takes you on an interesting day’s drive northwards to Savuti.
You will stop en route for lunch. A game drive past the grassy plains of the Mababe Depression takes to your campsite on your African overland safari tour. You will overnight in Savuti in an exclusive wilderness area. |
Day 10: Savuti, BotswanaSavuti is one of Africa’s most densely populated predator areas, and well known for its Bull Elephant. The Savuti waterhole offers an ever-changing spectacle of birds and wildlife. Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives on your African overland safari tour with leisure time to relax during the heat of the day. You will overnight in Savuti in an exclusive wilderness area. |
Days 11 & 12: Chobe RiverGet up early to enjoy a leisurely breakfast. You will break up camp and leave for the Chobe River. You should see the breeding herds of Elephant and large herds of Buffalo for which this park is famous. In the afternoon a boating excursion on the Chobe River is planned for your African overland safari tour which offers a new dimension to game viewing. You will overnight in a camp along the Chobe floodplains in an exclusive wilderness area. |
Days 13: Victoria Falls / Livingstone - Tour EndsAfter a leisurely breakfast, you will pack up and slowly make your way out of Chobe National Park towards the town of Kasane, from here it is time to bid farewell as will be a transfer arranged for you to Victoria Falls or Livingstone (please remember that US$ 35 is payable at the border post for a single entry visa into Zimbabwe). |
